Flowers for the sea by Zin E. Rocklyn, is an intensely baffling read filled with righteous anger. A story about monsters of the air, monsters of the sea, the cruelties of humans, and the wild delicious spite of untamed anger; it is an intense experience.

After an event that destroys and covers all lands, some humans are on a slowly dying and declining generational ship. As their numbers and their food dwindles, Iraxi, who was an outcast on land, continues as an outcast on the ship. With her pungent smell and giant belly, she is close to giving birth. On a ship filled with people who hate her kind (those blessed by the sea), her former lover and her current lover, desperation and revelations coincide with the traumatic birth of her child.
